Shopping in Santa Fe

Santa Fe is known for its art galleries, boutiques and endless number of places to shop.  From Native American goods, to modern art to the Outlet Malls, you are sure to find what you've been looking for in Santa Fe.

OUTLET MALL
On the south side of Santa FE, the Outlet Mall is home to 24 TRUE factory outlet stores.  Here you will find Bass, Big Dogs, Liz Claiborne, Jones NY, Coach, Brooks Brothers, Nine West, Sunglass Hut, Van Heusen and Wilsons Leather.

SANTA FE BOUTIQUES AND GALLERIES
People come from around the world to shop in Santa Fe.  It is one of the top art markets in the world.   In and around Santa Fe you will find a spectacular array of art, clothing, kitchen and other specialty shops.  Make sure you explore the side streets beyond the Plaza.  Also the Guadalupe District provides a myriad of shops, galleries, restaurants and the Santa Fe Farmers Market.

Galleries line the narrow Canyon Road, perhaps the oldest street still in use in the country.  The road follows a 13th-century Indian trail.  In the 1920s, artists began moving into the small houses and the road's artistic heritage continues today.

Grocery Stores

Smiths, Trader Joes, Albertsons and La Montanita Co-op.

CHAIN STORES

Cost Plus, Borders, Big 5, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Target, Best Buy, TJ Maxx, Michaels, JC Penney, Mervyns, Dillard's, Ross Dress for Less, Amercian Eagle, and Jackalope.

SPECIALTY SHOPS

The Design Center, located at 418 Cerrillos Road, is the perfect redecorating shopping destination with Old El Paso Import Co and Made in the Shade, which features lamps and lighting.  Clothing boutiques and other specialty shops are nestled in this two story indoor shopping center.

BOUTIQUES

Some of the more interesting boutiques can be found right on the Plaza and include
Packard's on the Plaza.  Ann Taylor is also located on the Plaza offering more traditional fare.

The Guadelupe District, southwest of the Plaza at Guadelupe and the cross streets Garfield, Montezuma and Aztec, is full of kitschy shops offering everything from vintage Western wear to hiking boots.  Some of the noteworthy Guadelupe shops include Double Take, a secondhand clothing store, and Santa Fe Pottery.

At the end of Montezuma is the Sanbusco Center, a funky sort of mall that is anchored by Cost Plus and Borders Books

NATIVE AMERICAN GOODS
Native American goods can be found throughout New Mexico, but probably the safest place to buy Native American goods is "El Portal" in the plaza at Santa Fe.  All participants must be approved and are required to demonstrate their technical mastery of art and craft skills as part of the application process.  The program is monitored and work is inspected daily by the Portal Committee.  The program is administered by the Museum of New Mexico.  Prices are reasonable and there is no sales tax as the making of goods is considered to be a religious practice.  You also have the opportunity to speak directly with the artist or a member of the artist's family.  This direct contact with the artist makes the purchase memorable and you will find purchases from "El Portal" to be among your favorite things.

Please feel free to call or e-mail us with your shopping questions and suggestions.
